Shitty Council, arrived at the Reading Room a while ago as part of a large donation, and is an item now accessioned at the Zine Library.

Shitty Council. Title page says “Shitty Council. Richmond, VA. 2014.” There is no internal evidence with more information about this zine. The last page has a quote, attributed to George Orwell since the 1980s: “In a time of universal deceit telling the truth is a revolutionary act.”

the breadth of all that’s come before
awakens in my lungs.

The civilizations buried here
had burnt through all their bones,
but mystics from our inner earth
have built for you a throne —

I posit eyes before your own
and gifted now with sight,
what visions I have come to know
that color all my nights!

The secret pleasures we have shared
have balanced my mistakes;
Two lovers scrying, tongues entwined,
our eyes the polished plates!
